10 Tips TO HELP YOU PREPARE FOR OUR SHOOT
Whatever you decide to wear, it is important that you feel confident and comfortable.
If you want your photos to look vibrant and full of life, I would suggest adding some colour to your outfit. Colour is not mandatory, but can make a big difference in the photos. (see below for many examples)
Please make sure all your clothes are clean and ironed. It is very hard to look professional with dirty or wrinkled clothing.
We will shoot 1 outfit, but bring 2 or 3 options just in case. Sometimes things have a stain or don’t fit. Some rare cases we will also be able to shoot faster than normal and we can shoot 2 different outfits in one mini shoot.
Layering clothing can look great. Using layers with contrasting brightness often works very well in photos. For example, a darker jacket with a lighter shirt underneath. (see below for many examples). Layers with different patterns or textures can also look really great.
For people who wear make-up, I'd suggest bringing your make-up bag with you. Sometimes we need a few quick touch-ups during the shoot, which is totally normal. Also, it’s a good idea to bring a hair brush, if you have longer hair.
Please bring chapstick. It can make a big difference.
For people who wear make-up, a little bit of eye makeup can make a big difference. Mascara will help bring out your eyes, which is really helpful for portrait photography. Just be careful not to overdo the makeup, especially with cover-up or powder.
Feel free to bring accessories, jewelry and glasses too. Again, don’t overdo it. Make sure you feel like yourself.
Normally we shoot waist up, so pants and shoes are not always in every shot, but I do try my best to get wider shots as well. If you don’t want wider shots, just let me know and we can focus on the mid range photos, similar to the ones below.
