11 Tips TO HELP YOU PREPARE FOR OUR SHOOT

  1. Bring 3 to 5 outfit options.

We’ll likely shoot 2–3 looks, but extra options give us flexibility. Most important: wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable.

  2. Weather check.

This is Canada—so dress in layers and come prepared for it to be colder or hotter than expected.

  3. Beach shoot? Come prepared.

If we’re shooting near water, bring sandals and a cozy sweater. It’s usually windier and chillier by the shore.

  4. Iron your clothes.

Wrinkled outfits are hard to work with, even in the best lighting. Clean, pressed clothing helps us get that polished look.

  5. Go for warm and welcoming.

Bright or vibrant colours often help photos feel inviting. Don’t overdo it—just aim for what feels natural and true to you. Most of all: make sure you feel like YOU!

  6. Add texture.

Fabrics like sheer, linen, or denim add depth, especially in portraits. Layering darks and lights can look amazing—especially in black and white.

  7. Play with necklines.

A range of styles (v-neck, scoop, turtleneck, off-shoulder, button-up) can create more variety. Don’t overthink it—if it doesn’t feel like you, skip it. Promise, it’s all good. :)

  8. Mix up your colours.

Having a range of colours makes it feel like we shot way more looks than we actually did. Variety adds visual interest!

  9. Touch-up kit = gold.

If you wear makeup, bring your kit. Quick touch-ups are totally normal. Also helpful: a hairbrush, chapstick, and a small mirror if you have one.

  10. Eyes pop with a little help.

A bit of mascara can make your eyes shine in portraits. Just go light on foundation or powder—less is usually more on camera.

  11. Eat (but not too much), and leave space.

Have a light meal before arriving—you’ll need the energy! And I recommend not booking anything major after. Most people feel both energized and tired after a shoot. Give yourself a little breathing room to soak it all in.
