My Favourite Thing About Art

My favourite thing about art is that it can give you intimacy, closeness, and connection to other people’s hearts. ❤️

But in order to gain access to someone else’s heart, you must first share access with your own heart.

That’s why art is such an intimate experience for me.

It takes great courage to go deep into your own heart and find what’s real and honest. To then bring that honesty through you and into the world requires even more bravery.

And my dear friend Ciarán did just that with this soulful art project he came up with.

If you are still waiting for someone to give you permission to make art or to call yourself an artist, here it is:

Your life is beautiful. Every day you create something just by being in this world.

Each of us is an artist in our own way.

So what will you create today?

And who will you co-create with?

Big love,

D

PS: Special shoutout to Jenn Mansell for her help both taking BTS photos and videos too.

9 Zoom Tips That Saved My Butt During COVID

Since April I have been hosting and facilitating Zoom groups 3–5 times EVERY single week.

I did the math and that’s over 100 Zooms that I have lead for Artist, Creators and Meditators from around the world.

As you can imagine doing the same thing 100+ times in a row will teach you things. I made so many mistakes, especially in the early days.

My background is in photography and film, so holding space for 15–25 people several times a week could be REALLY.

This was made even more difficult because I can get really introverted and am SUPER sensitive to other people’s energies.

With this How-To Video I share my 9 Best Zoom Facilitation Tips that have saved my BUTT during these past 100+ Zooms that I have lead during COVID.

As a professional cinematographer and photographer I definitely have an advantage when it comes to Zoom.

In this video I show you how the sausage gets made and share my entire Zoom setup—including my camera, lens, mic, monitor, mixer, and everything else I use for Zoom.

BUT more importantly I also share 5 tips to make YOUR Zoom calls look better. All of which will cost you nothing. None of the tips I use require you to buy any new tech and can be implemented immediately.

When Things Go Right, Sometimes We Fall Apart

So many amazing things have happened in the last few weeks. You guys have sent in hundreds of comments, voice notes, emails, and texts in response to my recent social media content. And by many metrics, the content’s been really working.

You would think this would be a moment of celebration for me.

And for the most part, it is.

But it’s not that simple.

Because while a part of me is happy, another part of me is sort of terrified of what’s going on.

And I think that’s okay. Here’s what I’ve learned over the years…

Sometimes in the process of finding success, we encounter hidden parts of us that want nothing to do with our newfound growth.

It’s not because those parts are evil or have a plan to destroy us or forever hold us back. In fact, I resent when people refer to these parts of me as self-sabotage. That implies that this part of me that is afraid is a saboteur, and will forever be malicious and work against me. I don’t believe this to be true at all.

It’s too easy to ignore or deny those parts and just forge forward with a big smile on our face.

It’s too easy to only talk about what’s going great, while denying that there may be a deep-seated fear growing within us.

It’s easy, but it’s not the truth.

The truth is that this part of me is just doing his best to protect my heart.

And I love and appreciate all that he does.

For today’s video I have a conversation with the part of me that’s terrified by all the wonderful things from the past few weeks. I didn’t go in to blame him or fix him or even judge him. I went in to listen, support and to love him.

Do you guys have a part that is not ready for growth and success or is it just me?

Coming soon.

How To Find Your Dream Clients in 90 Seconds (or Less)

Here’s one of my favourite and most effective secrets.

I use it to help people quickly find their dream clients before I photograph them.

What I love about this process is how simple it is. It cuts through all the overthinking and paralysis, and within minutes helps you get crystal clear on who your audience is for our photo session. And also for your overall brand and business too.

Who knew that a simple tool could help you laser in your focus on the people you are most capable of helping? Which of course, will also help you bring in profit faster.

PS:: I can’t say if this tip is effective across all industries and all business models. But I do know that it works for heart-centred thought leaders. So if you are a coach, speaker, author or entrepreneur, then this is for you.

Do you guys have any other tips on how to find your dream clients? I’d love to hear them in the comments below.
